Coverage - Standard vs Enhanced Coverage - Benefits
You’ll see SAIT benefits referred to as “Enhanced” or “Standard.” The majority of SAIT employees are in the 'Enhanced Plan' of benefits.
There are a few employees who were hired prior to 2009 remaining in an older 'Standard Plan' of benefits.
- The Enhanced Plan was introduced at SAIT in response to employee input. It provides a non-taxable long-term disability plan, increased life insurance, a direct pay drug card, massage therapy and more.
- Every July — the beginning of the benefit year — employees enrolled in the Standard Plan have the option to switch. Contact Employee Services if you wish to opt into the Enhanced Plan.
- If you were hired by SAIT during or after 2009, then we pay for your health care premiums.
- If you were hired before 2009, you may still be enrolled in the Standard Plan. The health care premiums are split equally between you and SAIT. You can claim the health care premiums against your Health Care Spending Account.
