Letter of Reference
Leaders are often asked by current and former employees if they would serve as a referee and provide a written or verbal reference to an external organization or person. Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act, there is provision for reference information to be provided to other organizations or persons.
Prior to agreeing to be a referee, the current or former employee needs to provide you with a completed and signed consent form (please email employee.questions@sait.ca). Other such evidence as an email, will serve if the consent form is not provided.
- By completing and signing the consent form, the individual acknowledges and agrees that the referee will need to comment on the individual’s job performance and personal characteristics while employed at SAIT.
- The referee must retain the signed form for one year.
- Human Resources does not need a copy of the form.
- If the form is not signed, a reference cannot be provided.
See SAITNOW for documentation.
