Sick Leave General Inquiries
Thank you for your inquiry, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties. At the very basic level, if you require to be on a medical leave over three consecutive days, you can go on General Sick Leave.
Generally speaking, all salaried staff and faculty could be eligible for up to 120 working days of sick leave. In order to initiate a General Sick Leave, your leader would have to submit a DM13 form to employee.questions@sait.ca
We do not require any medical documentation from you, but if you need an extended leave (over 2 weeks), your case may be referred over to our third-party assessor, Telus Health. Telus Health is there to support you through your sick leave. They would be the ones to request medical documentation from your physician(s) to provide ongoing support for your sick leave, while ensuring all your medical and personal information is kept completely confidential. They communicate with us as to your return-to-work timelines as well as if you will require any accommodations to help with a smooth transition back to work whenever it is that you are ready for a return.
